Dandelion News
Here we will share news big and small, real-life stories and current affairs.
Løvetannakademiet is currently running its third pilot of L.E.A.P (formerly known as the Aftercare Workshop), this time in Oslo. We invite young people aged 16-18 with measures from the child welfare services who need to map resources and assistance needs in connection with aftercare.
In L.E.A.P courses, the participant goes through a process of defining dreams for the future, identifying their own resources and setting future goals. Based on the participant's dream, resources and goals, the participant maps their network and makes a plan for which areas they need support and what they can do themselves to achieve their goals. At L.E.A.P, participants also receive an introduction to the laws, rules, benefits and challenges associated with aftercare in child welfare services, adapted to the target group. The aim is to give young people a good foundation for working with their child welfare service on the transition to adulthood.

We need help finding a name for our new workshop. Can you help us?! What is the workshop about?
Young people in the transition to adulthood can receive further support from child welfare services after the age of 18, known as aftercare. In order to provide the best possible services adapted to the young person, it is important that the young person is involved in the planning. How do you actually participate in practice? This is taught at the workshop. Here, young people are given information about what aftercare is, what rights they have and practical tools to identify what follow-up they need for a good transition to adulthood. Target group: young people aged 16-18 with child welfare measures. Submit name suggestions to konkurranse@lovetannakademiet.no or comment below the post. The new name, and the winner of the competition, will be announced on March 1. Guest post written by Ludwig Sandell I've often said that I don't come from a furnished home, but an over-furnished one. I grew up with two parents, a sister and a grandmother in the house. There was also family in the house next door, and I had good access to safe adults around me throughout my childhood. Child welfare was something you read about in the newspapers. The only exception was when a newly arrived sixth grader was picked up by an adult lady with a Palestinian scarf and practical shoes in the classroom. The police car, which was parked at an appropriate distance, highlighted the seriousness of this unkempt boy, who rarely brought a snack and often arrived in dirty clothes, being picked up by adults.
The child who was picked up was neither disruptive, dangerous, scary or rude. Nor was he violent. He was, however, a victim of neglect. The parents, to the extent that they were present, were unable to take care of him. No one washed his clothes, helped with his homework or made him a snack. No words of praise or encouragement. The adults whispered about alcohol abuse and maybe even drugs. A gift of NOK 229,000 from Sparebankstiftelsen DNB NOR for an aftercare program for young people with child welfare measures. Following an application from Løvetannakadet, Sparebankstiftelsen DNB has granted
NOK 229,000 for a pilot project in Aftercare for young people in child welfare services. The donation will be used for the pilot project in the Aftercare program, which is designed to prevent exclusion among young people in the transition from child welfare to adulthood. The program is for young people between the ages of 18 and 23 who are involved in child welfare services. The program runs over six weekend sessions, where the young people will gain knowledge about everything from personal finances to healthy cooking. The young people will learn methods to deal with their challenges, find their strengths and set clear goals for the future. The program is divided into five main themes: identity, finances, work and education, health and social responsibility. The sessions consist of lectures, exercises, discussions and external visits. The project is intended to promote social and practical life skills, thereby preventing exclusion. We greatly appreciate the gift and look forward to getting started on the project. |
